cHAIRMAN’S Message

For many years, sport, and in particular football, has been fundamental in assisting our children in their schools with their educational development, addressing and assisting issues such as character well-being, social awareness, responsibility, leadership and physical fitness, and indeed the success stories are numerous.

Through our Community Trust, Gillingham Football Club has created and delivered many initiatives to all age groups throughout Kent over many years and continues to work in both primary and secondary education supporting, encouraging and working alongside students of all abilities.

As a result of our in depth knowledge of the local and National educational system, and specifically some of the areas in which we believe we can add value to students by combining sport and education directly, we set up The GFC School, (previously the GFC Community Trust School), to offer a full curriculum designed specifically for students requiring an alternative educational provision, students who feel more comfortable in studying within an environment combining football and learning.

The GFC School has a Board of Governors, who are eminently qualified and experienced in the fields of education, law and business, an Executive Director of Education, a Head of Education and a staffing structure similar to mainstream schools, the school follows the national curriculum and has state-of-the art facilities aimed at giving students the best possible opportunities to develop their talents in order to achieve their full potential.

We encourage our students to participate in outdoor activities, and have fantastic facilities in regards to outdoor grassed training pitches at our training ground close to the stadium, and as the school develops and grows we have plans to expand these facilities and offer a wider range of learning opportunities to our students, including, but not limited to, post-16 education and assistance with employment by way of our commercial relationships with the football club sponsors and supporters.

Gillingham Football Club is committed to supporting the GFC School and its development. We are inspired by our success stories to date and we firmly believe in our mission statement to help provide a safe, sound and progressive educational offering to our students, in order to equip them for their journey in future life.
